Mission Statement
The SEAC is composed of employer volunteers representing a cross-section of business and industry. The Employer Advisory Council (EAC) was developed to promote a stronger partnership between the California Employment Development Department (EDD) and the business community. Its commitment or mission is to assist employers in conducting their business more effectively and efficiently, to provide information on employment-related issues, and to enhance the communication between EDD and the private sector. The SEAC is a member of the California Employer Advisory Council (CEAC). Member EACs throughout the state comprise the CEAC.
About Us
The SEAC is a cross-section of employer volunteers from businesses and organizations throughout the Sacramento area. We help educate employers about relevant employment issues and related legal concerns.
We partner with EDD to increase cooperation and communication between EDD and the private sector. We also assist employers in their efforts to give back to their communities by advocating local workforce development efforts, supporting veterans’ and other employment and educationally focused not-for-profit groups, and providing scholarships.
As a not-for-profit employer advocacy group, we present an alternative to large, faceless associations. We offer monthly breakfast meetings, luncheons, or all day seminars where well-respected attorneys and other human resource experts provide “nuts and bolts” information. We are large enough to attract great speakers, yet small enough to allow you to ask direct questions during the presentation. We understand your time is valuable and strive to justify your investment.
Purpose
The SEAC is a California nonprofit corporation. The purpose of the SEAC is to:
- Act in an advisory capacity to the State of California EDD field offices in Sacramento;
- Enhance the services and communications network for local employers;
- Be of assistance to employers on an educational and legal level; and
- Arrange for speakers at meetings and other functions who can provide educational information of interest to members.
To accomplish its purpose, the SEAC Board of Directors will:
- Identify problem areas, recommend changes, increase confidence in and encourage the use of EDD services by employers;
- Identify employment-related community needs which are not being met and recommend ways to meet such needs;
- Use SEAC as a sounding board for proposed and ongoing EDD policies, programs and procedures;
- Support the community with donations for youth and adults in charitable events relating to career development;
- Design, implement and participate in various community activities such as employment seminars, career days and job search workshops; and
- Help identify employment trends and needs of local employers
