President’s Letter
California Employer Advisory Council
EAC Board Members and Membership,
I hope this message finds you well. I am delighted to share with you some of the best practices and key takeaways from this year’s conference in Newport Beach. It was a pleasure to see so many of you in attendance, and I believe the insights gained will be invaluable for our continued growth and success.
Best Practices from the 2027 Conference
1. Hybrid or Virtual Conferences: Offering hybrid or virtual options for our conferences can significantly increase participation and accessibility for members who may not be able to attend in person.
2. Active LinkedIn Presence: Maintaining an active LinkedIn account is crucial for networking and staying connected with our members. It helps in sharing updates, engaging with the community, and attracting new members.
3. Zoom Training: Providing Zoom training sessions ensures that all members are comfortable using the platform for virtual meetings and events. This enhances our ability to communicate effectively and conduct seamless virtual conferences.
4. Sponsorship Opportunities: Offering sponsorship options that can be paid online makes it easier for sponsors to support our events. This can help in securing more sponsorshipsand funding for our activities.
5. Avoiding June for Conferences: Scheduling our conferences outside of June can help in avoiding conflicts with other major events and ensuring better attendance from our members.
6. Building a Membership Database: Creating a comprehensive database of all EAC members will facilitate better communication and engagement. This database can be used for sending out updates, invitations, and other important information.
7. Cashless Transactions: Utilizing QR codes for cashless purchases through platforms like Square or Venmo can streamline transactions and make it more convenient for attendees to make purchases at our events.
8. Social Media Engagement: Leveraging social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram to find and engage with members can help in reaching a wider audience and attracting younger members to our councils.
9. 2030 Clubs Membership: Joining 20–30 clubs can bring in new members and provide additional networking opportunities for our existing members.
10. Digital Marketing Interns: Hiring an intern for digital marketing can enhance our online presence and help in promoting our events and activities more effectively.
11. Online Dues Payment: Offering the option to pay membership dues on the CEAC website can simplify the process for our members and ensure timely payments.
12. Postcard Mailers: Using postcards for mailers can be an effective way to reach out to members. These postcards can be returned to the local EDD office if undelivered, ensuring that our communication reaches the intended recipients.
13. Portioning Mailers: Sending out mailers in portions can help in managing large mailing lists and ensuring that our messages are delivered efficiently.
14. Free Event Locations: Utilizing free event locations such as EDD offices, libraries, or colleges can help in reducing costs and making our events more accessible to members.
15. Speaker Contacts: If you are looking for a speaker, Jennie Wong is a valuable contact as she houses all the SHRM and HRCI recertification credit details from around the state.
16. Invite Coordinators: The coordinators used to attend the conference and have annual training to help them be better Coordinators and learn from each other. Bring back that benefit. We will look into this with EDD leadership.
17. Discounted Conferences: Don’t offer low deals closer to the conference, offer them earlier to everyone.
I am confident that by looking into some of these best practices, we can continue to enhance the value of our councils throughout the state and provide even greater support to our members.
Thank you for your continued dedication and participation. Looking forward to our next annual conference.
