Selfa Saucedo is the Director for Health Education for Ventura County Public Health. She oversees the Department’s Chronic Disease Prevention programs including Tobacco Education, Cessation and Policy programs as well as Nutrition Education, Diabetes Prevention and Obesity Prevention programs. During her 30-year career, she has been responsible for establishing disease and injury prevention programs such as child passenger safety, fluoride varnish application in the medical office, health coverage assistance programs and building community capacity through community engagement initiatives such as Resident Leadership Academy, Community Transformation Leadership Team and Collective Impact projects.
Selfa believes that the choices people make are determined by the choices people have available to them. She is committed to advancing health equity for those populations whose circumstances have made them vulnerable to poor health. Selfa believes that all people should have the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Her goal is to be part of making this a reality for all residents of Ventura County and California.
