SUMMARY:Western Ventura County Employer Advisory Council presents: Leave of Absence 101: Managing Pregnancy Leave\, Workers’ Comp\, EDD and Everything in Between
DESCRIPTION:Leave of Absence 101: Managing Pregnancy Leave\, Workers’ Comp\, EDD and Everything in Between \nThis seminar provides California employers with practical guidance for properly administering employee leaves of absence. \nParticipants will learn about required employer notices\, medical certifications\, and state and federal documentation; how FMLA\, CFRA\, and Pregnancy Disability Leave overlap; and when sick time or a workplace injury may trigger protected-leave obligations. \nThe session will also explain the EDD’s role in State Disability Insurance and Paid Family Leave claims\, how workers’ compensation benefits intersect with leave protections\, and how multiple leave entitlements may run concurrently. Attendees will leave with strategies for effectively tracking\, coordinating\, and documenting leaves to support compliance and reduce legal exposure. \nPresented by Alyssa Graf\n \nAlyssa is an associate in Fisher Phillips Woodland Hills office. Alyssa represents and advises clients in employment matters during all stages of litigation\, including the pre-litigation phase. \nAlyssa defends employers in all aspects of labor and employment law\, including charges of discrimination\, harassment\, retaliation\, wage and hour\, and other employment-related claims. Alyssa’s background is in civil defense where she represented companies in construction defect\, products liability\, and premises liability matters and has experience litigating a case from inception to trial. \nIn addition to her litigation practice\, Alyssa spends considerable time advising her clients on matters including compliance and preventative strategies. She works with employers to develop employee handbooks\, policies and procedures\, and training material.
